“Our speech team competed at 7 invitational meets, our Minnesota River Conference meet, sub-section and section speech meets. We advanced one student to the state tournament. Speech team members can choose from 13 different MSHSL categories in speech ranging from Public Address style speaking to Interpretation of Literature. Depending on the category, students may need to complete research, draft a script, create introductions, and/or interpret text meaning for performance, and all students speak in front of a judge and often other competitors. Students compete in at least three rounds of competition each meet in rooms with students in the same (or similar) categories. TCU students have had considerable success this year, not only in earning ribbons or medals, but in growing in their own skills and supporting each other as a team.”
